US Presidential elections
Even though I don't favor most current American policies, I didn't feel that badly about the recent elections beause it had a clear result and was decided at the voting booth and not in a court. That difference is important for civil democracy. I also think that second term presidents tend to become more like statesmen and less like hustlers. I found the election season to be acrimonious, nasty, sophomoric, unhelpful ....
I was tired of the bombardment of 'messages'. Essentially elections have become marketing plans to convince 'sections' of the market made up by us, the individual consumers. I don't remember substantive discussions about the overall challenges facing the United States, the globe nor any call to courageous and sacrificial actions by Americans ... just a lot of sound bites aimed at segments of the market, telling people what they want to hear.
